Description

VeraCrypt is the actively maintained successor to TrueCrypt and provides on-the-fly disk encryption for Windows, macOS and Linux. It can create encrypted file containers, encrypt entire partitions or even the whole system drive with pre-boot authentication. VeraCrypt supports strong ciphers such as AES, Serpent and Twofish (including cascades), keyfiles, and hidden volumes that provide plausible deniability. Because everything happens locally with no accounts or cloud, it is a powerful open-source alternative to BitLocker for protecting data at rest.
