Podman is a daemonless container engine by Red Hat that is Docker-compatible and can be operated without root privileges. Unlike Docker, Podman does not require a running daemon process, which enhances security. Podman supports pods (groups of containers), is OCI-compatible, and can directly use Docker Compose files. It also offers native integration with systemd for production use.
