Diaspora is one of the oldest decentralized social networks, founded in 2010 as a privacy-friendly alternative to Facebook. It is based on its own federation protocol and enables communication between independent servers (pods). Diaspora offers aspects (contact groups), hashtags, mentions, and reshares. Users retain full control over their data and privacy.
